Oshi no Ko Manga Ending Leaves Fans Emotional | Extra Pages Announced for Final Volume

Oshi No Ko manga by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari has officially concluded with Chapter 166 in the 50th issue of Weekly Young Jump.

The final volume, scheduled for release on December 18, 2024, will include both typical and special editions, plus an additional 24 pages of manga content for readers.

After the final chapter dropped, fans reactions to the series’ ending have been split, with most fans expressing discontent with the way it ended.

Fans mixed reactions

The last arc’s character introductions were frequently criticized for taking away from the narratives of well-known characters like Kana, who some fans thought was left without the resolution they were hoping for.

Some fans also voiced dissatisfaction with how fast the final arc appeared to occur, suggesting it was rushed and badly done. For some, the story’s speed was the biggest issue too many loose ends hooked up too quickly, leaving them dissatisfied.

Several readers compared the rushed ending with Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia, which both received criticism for their ending. Some believed that Akasaka had lost interest in the plot, doubting whether the author simply wanted to move on to his next project, as he is already working on a new book scheduled to be released next year.

However, not all fans expressed the same negative judgment. A portion of the audience defended the conclusion, saying it was an appropriate climax to the narrative.

They celebrated the last chapters as emotional and heartbreaking, believing that they stayed loyal to the themes that made the series so popular in the first place.
