Ufotable Studio is behind the outstanding animation of Demon Slayer anime. The founder of Ufotable Studio, Hikaru Konda, was accused of violation corporate Law, now sentenced to prison for whole 1 year and 8 months.
The Tokyo District Court handed a guilty verdict to Ufotable Animation Studio’s owner and president, Hikaru Konada on the charge of violating the Corporation Tax by failing to pay about US$1.25 million in taxes.
The court commented that Kondo’s wife, who acted as the company’s accountant, showed reluctance in manipulating the company’s tax filing, but Kondo had insisted, which showed “strong intent” to commit the fraud
According to the Court, Kondo’s wife, who is in change of company’s accountant was reluctant. They both had no intention of paying the taxes and was evading taxes.
Hikaru Kondo sentenced to 20 months in prison, however the prison notice suspended for three years. Court said they won’t send Konda to prison if he maintain good behaviour for three years and pay taxes. The studio still have to pay 30 Million yen (2,63,728 USD) to tax.
