Dandadan is quickly turning into a real gem of 2024. These last few episodes have been amazing, with top-notch directing and fantastic animation. The latest episode took fans by surprise with Acrobatic Silky’s heartbreaking backstory, leaving many in tears.
After watching Dandadan episode 7 anime-only fans are questioning “Is Acrobatic Silky Aira’s mom?”. This is because this creature referred to Aira Shiratori as her daughter during their encounter.
Spoilers: Acrobatic Silky was once a struggling mother working two jobs to support her daughter, whom she loved deeply and taught ballet. Despite their hardships, she did everything to provide, even getting into debt with dangerous people to buy her daughter a dress.
When these men took her daughter as punishment, she couldn’t reach her in time. Heartbroken, she ended her life by leaping from a building in a ballet move, transforming into the Yokai, Acrobatic Silky.
The anime took a different approach with Acro Silky’s backstory than the manga, but it was still deeply affecting. It showed how the world can be so cruel to some people who want nothing but the best for their children.
Is Acrobatic Silky Aira’s mom? Are they related?
Aira lost her mother as a child and mistakenly saw Acrobatic Silky as her. This unintentional bond explains why the Yokai followed her. Later, when Aira faced the Yokai alongside Momo Ayase and Okarun, this connection ultimately saved her.
Acro Silky projected her lost love for her daughter onto Aira, who, as a child, had mistaken Acro Silky for her mother. In her grief, Acro Silky also saw Aira as her daughter in the past and carried those feelings into the present timeline. This connection explains their bond and behavior.
They are certainly not related but they have a connection made out of an encounter they had years ago.
