Jujutsu Kaisen is back after a week off, and the new chapter is packed with drama and surprises. Even though the official release isn’t on Shonen Jump’s site yet, some leaks are already out. They shed light on the family connection between Sukuna and Yuji, making things even more intriguing.
Chapter 257 of Jujutsu Kaisen starts with a flashback where Uraume asks Sukuna about Yuji’s real identity. We learn that Sukuna ate his twin brother when they were both still in their mother’s womb because he felt hungry. Surprisingly, the soul of that twin was reborn as Jin Itadori, who, along with Kenjaku, became Yuji Itadori.
Uraume ponders if Yuji shares Sukuna’s power, then it shifts to the present where Yuji unleashes two powerful Black Flashes on Sukuna. He follows up by slicing a pillar and aiming it at Sukuna to cut his leg, but Sukuna fights back with a flurry of slashes, pushing Yuji back.
Ignoring the slashes, Yuji delivers another Black Flash to Sukuna. At that moment, the narrator unveils that Yuji possesses two Cursed Techniques: “Blood Manipulation,” passed down from the Death Painting Wombs, and “Shrine,” inherited from Sukuna. However, his mastery over the latter is still developing.
The narrator clarifies that Yuji’s Shrine differs from Sukuna’s because of their distinct eras and identities. Since Yuji has only recently discovered this ability, the strength behind his attacks is quite limited. Despite this, Sukuna is enraged that Yuji can wield the power at all.
Chapter 257 of Jujutsu Kaisen turns to Ino, who summons a Dragon using Auspicious Beast Summon. Ino tries to attack Sukuna with the Blade, but Sukuna cuts the Dragon in half and catches the blade with his feet. This momentary distraction gives Yuji the opportunity to deliver another Black Flash.
Seeing Yuji’s repeated use of Black Flashes, Sukuna becomes more alarmed and attempts to punch Yuji. However, Yuji seizes the opportunity to grab Sukuna and slam him into a wall before delivering another Black Flash. Despite Sukuna’s attempts to retaliate by slicing at Yuji, Yuji persists in his assault, fueled by determination. Just as Sukuna’s attack intensifies, Ino intervenes by throwing Nanami’s blade at Sukuna, momentarily disrupting his assault.
Realizing his own constraints, Ino urges Yuji to unleash his full power. Yuji responds by delivering another Black Flash to Sukuna, marking the seventh consecutive one in Chapter 257 of Jujutsu Kaisen. The chapter concludes with the narrator suggesting that Yuji has reached parity with Sukuna and possibly even surpassed him.
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 257 is scheduled for an official release on April 21 on the Shonen Jump+ app. With the revelation that Sukuna is Yuji’s true uncle, fans are eager to see how Gege Akutami will integrate this familial bond into the story. This development sets the stage for what could be an epic and captivating finale, adding more excitement to the series.
