The animation industry is one of Japan’s most visually distinctive media industries. We have seen many big anime titles breaking the box-office records and dominating the scene. In the same way anime is dominating Netflix shows, as more than half of Netflix worldwide subscribers streamed anime last year.
Talking about the viewship, you would be surprised to know that more than 90% of Japanese Netflix subscribers watched anime in 2021.
Director of anime creative at Netflix, Kohei Obara, revealed to Variety on Monday that “more than half” of Netflix’s worldwide subscribers streamed “anime” last year. This number jumps to 90% for Japanese Netflix subscribers.
Here is an statement from Kohei Obara, the director of anime creative at Netflix:
“Anime is one of the cornerstones of our investment in Japan, watched by nearly 90% of our members last year. At the same time, interest in anime has grown worldwide, and more than half of our members globally tuned into it last year,”

With all this sucess, Netflix is planning to provide more anime series on their platform. They also plans to invest in original productions and exclusive licenses in the anime category remain unchanged.
Netflix has already revealed that just like previous year, they will reveal 40 anime titles this year as well.

- Kakegurui Twins
- Tekken
- Jojo
- Tiger & Bunny 2
- Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045
- Spriggan
- Bubble

- Among others
Netflix will announce more anime titles in near future, so look forward for them.
