Studio MAPPA

Studio MAPPA was found by Masao Maruyama 10 years ago on June 14, 2011. Since then it became one of the biggest animation studios in the industry.

Number of employees: 250 (as of April 2021)

Some of the popular anime works of MAPPA studio includes, Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Dororo, Yuri!!! On Ice, Kakegurui, etc.

Studio Ufotable

Studio Ufotable founded in October 2000 by former staff of the TMS Entertainment Animation Film and located in Tokyo.

Number of employees: 200 (as of July 2016)

Ufotable is currently dominating the scene with the animation of Demon Slayer season 2. They are without a doubt one of the best animation studio out there.

Wit Studio

Wit Studio founded by George Wada on June 1, 2012. He is producers at Production I.G as a subsidiary of I.G Port.

Number of employees: 130 (as of November 2021)

The studio gained notability for producing the first three seasons of Attack on Titan and also Vinland Saga.

Toei Animation

Toei Animation founded on January 23, 1948 and initially named as Toei Doga. Later on in 1998, company changed it’s name to Toei Animation and it’s popular for producing Dragon Ball Z.

Number of employees: 1,266 (as of March 2020)

It has produced numerous series, including Dragon Ball, Sally the Witch, One Piece, Sailor Moon, Digimon, Galaxy Express, Dr Slump, The Transformers, etc.

CloverWorks

CloverWorks is a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan’s anime production firm Aniplex. Studio founded on October 1, 2018 and became popular for animating The Promised Neverland, Fairy Tail and many other anime.

Number of employees: 117 (As of February 2021)

Fans are loving the latest anime, My Dress-Up Darling of CloverWork. Not just that, CloverWorks has produced many series, such as Darling in the Franxx, Horimiya, The Promised Neverland, Fairy Tail, etc.

Studio Ghibli

It is best known for its animated feature films, and has also produced several short subjects. Some of the studio’s highest-grossing films are Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle and Ponyo.

Number of employees: 182 (As of 2021)

Studio Ghibli created five films which are among the ten highest-grossing anime feature films made in Japan. Many of their works have won the Animage Grand Prix award. Four have also won the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year.

Bones Studio

Bones Studio founded on October 1998 and is among the anime studios with big anime titles. They have been consistent with the animation and always delivered their best.

Number of employees: 80 (as of April 2021)

Studio Bones have the lowest number of employees in out anime studios list but the numbers are not till the current date, so it may vary. They have delivered great anime likes, My Hero Academia, Full Metal Alchemist, Mob Psycho 100, Space Dandy, Noragami, Bungo Stray Dogs, etc.
