Dragon Ball is indeed the godfather of anime, started in 1986, and last episode of Dragon ball super aired in 2018. It is 2021 now and Dragon ball super manga is still coming out every month, but what about anime announcement? 3 years have passed since the last episode of Dragon ball super aired.
After Dragon ball super ended airing on March 25, 2018, we got a new canon Dragon ball movie (Dragon ball super: Broly) in November 14, 2018. Animation of Broly movie differed from the oily-looking animation of Dragon Ball super. There are many rumours that if Dragon ball super returns, they are going to use same animation as Broly movie. Majority of fans loved DBS: Broly’s animation and as of 23 March 2019, DBS: Broly grossed over $85.8 million internationally from Fox distributed markets, for a worldwide total of over $116.5 million. It is the 11th highest grossing anime film internationally of all time.
Dragon Ball Super arc are moving forward in manga but same cannot be said for anime. After the anime end, Dragon Ball Super has made no move to return to television.
Dragon Ball Super Announcement
Many of you already know this announcement, but let me tell you one more time. Dragon Ball Super officials have announced that the anime “Dragon Ball Super re-run begins on 14 Feb, 2021! Every Sunday tune into BS Fuji TV @ 10am”
It turns out the anime will start to show re-runs over in Japan starting February 14. But if the schedule runs through the entire anime, any new series would be delayed a few years.
A fan did maths calculation after the team behind Dragon Ball Super made an announcement.
Dragon Ball Super has enough episodes to put its re-run through August 2023. That works out so long as an episode is shown every Sunday on Fuji TV. If this turns out correct, then fans have to wait 3 years at least for new Dragon Ball Super anime.
When Will Dragon Ball Super 2 Release (DBS 2)
It’s been three years since Dragon Ball Super anime ended and there is no official announcement about DBS 2 release. We waited 3 years for anime comeback and i think we have to wait a few more years. It is not about arcs or episodes, they are just chilling behind the scene.
If this math that fan did in above twitter post works out, a Dragon Ball anime comeback is more than two years away, and that is assuming it would come out immediately upon the re-run’s close.
This update is hard for fans to hear, but let’s appreciate the work that they are putting in manga chapter. They have some really great arcs to animate, and this time fans are expecting great animation from Toei.
