Anime reference are becoming more frequent now, we have seen many anime references in movies and comics too. But this latest reference is making fans go crazy as Deadpool casually mentions Chainsaw Man anime in the comics.
In Deadpool’s newest series, the popular antihero has learned a cool move from Chainsaw Man and brought it into the Marvel world.
The movie Deadpool used is from Chainsaw Man, crafted by Tatsuki Fujimoto, initially as a manga and later adapted into a beloved anime, unfolds in a universe where individuals can make pacts with demons to wield supernatural abilities.
In the anime, there’s a character named Aki Hayakawa who can summon the Fox Devil by pulling a cord on his wrist. This unleashes a fox-like devil from his hand, devouring & eating everything in its path.
In Deadpool’s comic, issue 1 of his 2024 series, he mimics Aki’s trademark move (kon) during a battle with a villain, as shown in above tweet. Deadpool goes like:
Deadpool: “You ever seen Chainsaw Man?” Antagonist: “What the hell is that?” Deadpool: “Never mind, you would probably hate it.”
Deadpool executes this move to take down a villain, accompanied by his symbiote-hyena sidekick dubbed “Princess” (a fun tribute to Aki’s Fox Devil from the manga). This clever reference to Chainsaw Man not only showcases Deadpool’s pop culture flair but also connects fans of both series.
