Another Sunday, and once again another visually stunning new episode of My Dress-Up Darling. Episode 8, “I Really Recommend Backlighting”, finally out and fans can’t deny the fact that this is one of the best episodes yet! My Dress-Up Darling just keeps getting better with every episode.
This new episode 8 gave us the classic beach scene which was so stunning to see and also the backstory of Juju’s character, including how she started cosplaying, made the episode more appreciable. Moreover, in this episode, Juju serves as a way for Gojo to realise how happy getting complimented for his craft makes him.
The pacing of this episode from first and other half was kind of hard cut. Where first half was them scouting an abandoned hospital for photoshoot, then the second half was totally different just Gojo and Marin at the Beach.
This episode definitely felt way different. Being able to see the characters move around in the environment was really nice. It’s rare to see characters walk into a scene. It’s always shown from a close-up shot and if it is a wide shot then it is usually static.
This show is like other Slice of life anime but the concept is really great. The story is largely about Wakana Gojo’s insecurities, some around his hobby but more about himself. When it comes to consistent quality, this episode stands out quite a bit. You can tell Episode 8 of My Dress-Up Darling took around double the effort of the previous episode. Everything was great.
