The Shibuya Arc in Jujutsu Kaisen delivered some of the most breathtaking moments in the anime series, thanks to its impeccable animation and captivating storyline. Among these moments was a thrilling battle between the formidable “King of Curses” Sukuna and Mahoraga. Recently, this battle received an extended and uncut version with the release of the series’ Blu-ray.
This week, fans can get their hands on Volumes 4 and 5 of the Jujutsu Kaisen “Shibuya Arc” Blu-ray, now available in stores. Following the Blu-ray release, leaked footage revealed the corrected and enhanced showdown between Sukuna and Mahoraga, previously omitted from the original TV broadcast and distribution.
The final iteration of the Sukuna vs. Mahoraga battle scene has seen substantial improvements. Originally released in November 2023 as part of Season 2, the fight sparked controversy due to reports of animators at Studio MAPPA facing time constraints.
An animator from the second season teased the revised version of Sukuna vs. Mahoraga, stating, “There are ‘additional cuts,’ and I believe it surpasses what one might imagine.” This means fans can now experience the intense clash between these two titans with improved sound and visuals.
Blu-ray Volumes 4 and 5 of the Shibuya Arc are currently available in both physical and digital formats. Additionally, to celebrate the release, Episodes 17 to 20 of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will be screened in Japanese theaters for a one-week period starting March 29.
