In the spoilers of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 255, it looks like we are getting a flashback where Satoru Gojo talks about Miguel’s strength, describing him as really powerful and scary. He even said something that confirmed him to be a racist (we all can expect that from him).
Even though the manga chapter hasn’t dropped, some spoilers spilled online. Interestingly, it seems the next chapter will have the manga creator Gege Akutami tackling racism in the anime industry, as hinted by a flashback moment between Miguel and Satoru Gojo.
In the last chapter of the manga, Ryomen Sukuna beat Kusakabe. Then, Ui Ui showed up to grab Kusakabe, but Sukuna wasn’t too pleased with him. It looked like Sukuna might attack Ui Ui, but Miguel swooped in and saved him. And now, we’re gearing up for a showdown between Sukuna and Miguel.
So, coming back to the spoilers of chapter 255. According to Gojo, while 99% of Jujutsu Sorcerers are Japanese and use Cursed Energy to boost themselves, Miguel was an exception. Gojo highlighted in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 255 that Miguel’s rare skeletal and muscle structure made him more of a threat compared to Japanese sorcerers.
Gojo really said that Miguel had a rare skeletal and muscle structure just because he was black. BLUNT RACISM. However, Miguel made it clear that his uniqueness had nothing to do with his race. Upon hearing this, Gojo promptly apologized to Miguel.
We think Gege Akutami might be calling out racism in the anime industry through Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 255 because there are several black characters depicted as physically powerful. So when Miguel confronts Gojo about his racism, it could be Akutami’s way of shining a light to other creators.
